It is a fishing tool/technique that consists of a long line, called the main line, with baited hooks attached at intervals by means of branch lines called snoods. The entire system is immersed into the water and held in place with sinkers. The longlines are kept in shallow fishing baskets or plastic basins with a strip of cork on their brim to pin the hooks.
